Circuit Ministry

"What can we do better together than we can do alone?"

Starting in July 2004, all United Methodist Churches in the Wisconsin Conference became a part of a Circuit. The 55 Circuits around the state are designed to help pastors support each other, increase effectiveness in ministry and Christian discipleship, and assist in accountability. They are also meant to help every congregation reach out into their communities to discover ways that they can share God's love and grace with their neighbors in practical, needed ways.

We are supporting the work and churches of Revs. Eduard and Natalia Botov in the Kaliningrad Region of Russia. Kaliningrad is a small area that does not touch the rest of Russia. It is bordered by Poland on the west and Lithuania on the East. Natalia is the pastor at the Sovietsk UMC, and Eduard is the pastor at the Kalingrad UMC. We are proud of their work to help street children, prisoners, and families dealing with alcohol and drug addiction. The Botovs visited Wisconsin in the summer of 2004.

Africa
Dan and Rachel Gabler are United Methodist missionaries stationed in Nyembo Umpungo in the Democratic Republic of Congo in central Africa. Dan is an aircraft mechanic and translator. Rachel is a teacher of Sunday school teachers for Congolese churches.

Locally
In our community, we support the CROP Walk to stop hunger and Habitat for Humanity of Grant County, Wisconsin.

Disaster Response

Whenever disasters occur throughout the world, the people of the United Methodist Church are ready to respond. We do this directly through UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief. While you may not see UMCOR advertising on TV like other agencies, they are on the ground assessing, assisting, and rebuilding communities immediately and will be for years to come. We are proud that 100% of all donations to UMCOR go to assist those in need. (Administrative costs are covered through a special church-wide offering, the One Great Hour of Sharing in March each year.) Donations can be given through the Platteville UMC, or by going directly to UMCOR at www.umcor.org
